Although hikers often feel like they are “in a dream” and, depending on the altitude “so close to heaven” thanks to the release of happy hormones, even this feeling can be topped with certain hiking tours. It is the top quality hiking tours that make hiking such an experience. Factors such as nature, route, path markings as well as scenic and cultural highlights (castles, chapels, shrines, rocks…) are what makes up the quality. Every one of these trails is varied and has its own character. There are three certified tours in the Renchtal holiday region that have been awarded the “Dream Tour” seal of approval by the German Hiking Association. The special thing about every one of the tours: they all have refreshment stops along the way!
The sky loungers make up a considerable part of the attraction of these certified hikes. Who wants to simply hike when counting clouds is so much fun too? Take a moment, lie back, relax…! Picnic tables, the ubiquitous schnapps fountain (stocked with wine, beer, apple spritzer, mineral water from the region) and “normal” benches are such tempting pitfalls of well-being. All of this is just part of the concept that brings together the Baden way of life in the mountain huts and guesthouses. Note: Hiking without any form of comfort is not on! And certainly not in Baden!
However, if you are looking for “bathing in forests” or want to “switch off”, a visit here is well worth it too. When the famous writer Mark Twain (“Tom Sawyer”) was hiking in the Black Forest, he felt that “the everyday world is far away and that you are completely freed of yourself and your affairs.” This is exactly the feeling that will set in! If you don’t believe it, just try hiking. Let’s go! Not only the longest, but also the most beautiful hike begins with the very first step.
The quality hiking trail leads you up and over the Maisach ridge to the Oppenau Buchkopf viewing tower. The tour offers you stunning views, narrow paths and some challenging sections. There are information boards, schnapps fountains and quaint places to stop off at along the way for refreshments.
